Day 1/100: The Beginning

Ahhh to write those words. The Beginning. It’s so full of possibility, budding promise, unwavering dreaminess.

Last year, I spent 100 days asking questions and writing stories for #100DaysofSeekingStories and it was a brilliant reminder of process and dedication and creativity while exploring curious topics. I talked to friends and family and acquaintances about love, travel, religion, honesty, the past and the future, and everything in between.

This time around, I’ve decided to do a little exploration in the equine realm. My journey with the horse began when I was just six years old. And today, at the age of 26 (employing the rudimentary math skills in my arsenal), I have twenty years of meaningful equine experience. Man, that’s nuts.

Through the years, I’ve been competed in a countless number of horse shows, taken home U.S. and Canadian National and Reserve Championships, spent hours upon hours of time at the barn, and built relationships with beautiful horses and humans along the way. It’s been enlightening, special, fulfilling — but I want to use this project to explore uncharted equine territory — the realm beyond the horse world in which I’m most familiar.

Over the next 100 days, I want to devote time every day to creatively approach and engage with interesting paths of horsemanship. That’s what this journey is about — learning about different possibilities, growing as an individual, and finding peace, direction, and strength… All through way of the horse.

I’m glad you’re here. I can’t wait to share the next 100 days here, on Instagram at the hashtag #100DaysofEquineExploration, and on my Medium. Come back tomorrow, friends!
